MLK Day: King family become honorary team captains at Eagles-Buccaneers wild-card playoff game

During the NFC wild-card matchup on Monday night between Tampa Bay and the Philadelphia Eagles, three members of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s family will be recognized as honorary Buccaneers team captains.

Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King, and Yolanda Renee King will be present as special guests at the game and will have the honor of participating in the pregame coin toss at Raymond James Stadium. This significant occasion will be the first time that members of the King family have been involved in the commemoration of MLK Day at an NFL game.

The Buccaneers also organized special video board tributes and graphics to be displayed throughout the game, adding to the commemoration. At halftime, the Bethune-Cookman University Concert Chorale delivered a performance featuring the songs “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” “I Can See Clearly Now,” and “Way Over in Beulah Land.”
