BATON ROUGE, La. — The deadline has been extended to January for Louisiana lawmakers to draw and pass new congressional boundaries to replace an existing map deemed in violation of the Voting Rights Act and diminishes Black voting power.
The new redistricting deadline is Jan. 30.
It’s currently not known when the GOP-led state legislature will return to the capitol.
