ATLANTA — An autopsy performed on the 62-year-old church deacon who died last month after an encounter with Atlanta police has reportedly found that the man died by homicide after he was electrically shocked by an officer. The medical examiner found that heart disease also contributed to the man’s death.
Johnny Hollman was involved in a minor car collision on Aug. 10. Police responded to the scene of the crash. Hollman disputed who was at fault for the accident and refused to sign a traffic ticket. During the interaction with police, Hollman was shocked with a stun gun and handcuffed, and became unresponsive, reported The Associated Press.
Hollman’s death sparked outrage in the Atlanta area and spurred protests.
