Carlee Russell found guilty after claiming she was kidnapped

HOOVER, Ala. –Carlee Russell, the woman who was accused of falsely claiming she was abducted after stopping on a highway to check on a lost child, was found guilty Wednesday of false reporting to authorities.

A municipal judge the 26-year-old Alabama woman guilty of of false reporting to law enforcement and falsely reporting an incident.

Russell’s attorney said they plan to appeal her municipal court conviction. Russell is facing possibly a one-year jail sentence, which prosecutors are seeking.
