Kenyan runner Kelvin Kiptum wins Chicago Marathon, breaks previous record

CHICAGO — Kenya-born runner Kelvin Kiptum stunned spectators around the world on Sunday by not only winning the Chicago Marathon, but also eclipsing the previous mark by 34 seconds.

Kiptum set the new world record at the Chicago Marathon in 2 hours, 35 seconds. The previous record was also held by a fellow Kenyan and two-time Olympic Champion Eliud Kipchoge.
