WARREN, Mich. — A former police officer in Michigan was indicted by a grand jury on Thursday on charges he violated the civil rights of a young Black man after he punched him in the face in an incident caught on camera.
The two-count indictment was filed on Thursday against a former officer with Warren Police Department, which polices a suburban city in the Detroit Metro area. The indicment will replace a federal criminal complaint filed against the former officer in July.
