NAUGATUCK, Conn. — A police officer in a small Connecticut town is reportedly under criminal investigation after body camera video showed him using a Taser multiple times on a Black man suspected of robbery on Oct. 14. The video showed the officer Tased the suspect three times while he was laying on the ground complying with officer’s commands and begging him not to use the Taser again.
On Monday, the Naugatuck Police Department released video that included body camera and dashboard camera footage from the incident, which began after the suspect fled from police after he allegedly robbed a store.
The officer, who is a 13-year veteran with the Naugatuck Police Department, is under a criminal investigation and an internal affairs investigation following the incident, police officials said during a press conference on Monday. The officer also has a disciplinary record, reported the Hartford Courant.
