ATLANTA — The appointment of attorney Nathan Wade by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to lead the prosecution of Donald Trump and 18 others for their role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election has sparked controversy. Allegations of a romantic relationship between Willis and Wade have surfaced, igniting questions about his past work and qualifications, and potentially jeopardizing one of the four criminal cases involving Trump.

Willis has stood by her decision to hire Wade, despite his lack of prosecutorial experience, but has not explicitly denied a romantic relationship. The claim emerged last week in a motion filed by a defense attorney representing a former Trump campaign staffer, but no concrete proof was provided. The attorney is now aiming to dismiss the indictment and remove Willis and Wade from the case.

Willis, a Democrat, is up for re-election this year.
