ST. GEORGE, GRANADA — A Category 4 storm making its way to Jamaica has killed seven people and triggered a hurricane warning for Caribbean islands, including Jamaica and Haiti.

Dubbed “Hurricane Beryl” Beryl became the first storm of the season to develop into a Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic when it peaked at winds of 165 mph on Tuesday. The hurricane has notched down to a Category 4 but still remains dangerous as it is expected to cross over Jamaica early Wednesday before moving toward the Cayman Islands on Thursday.

Belize also issued a tropical storm watch from its border with Mexico to Belize City.
