VIRGINIA CITY, NV — A Black man posted a TikTok video on Friday that went viral showing a white man making racist comments towards him during an event in Virginia City, Nevada.
In the video, the older man allegedly made a comment towards the Black man about “a hanging tree” and called him the n-word.

The video was filmed by unclerickyd1 on TikTok, who called out the racist comments as several white people nearby could be seen laughing after the racist comments were made. One of the men involved in the incident was wearing a MAGA hat.
According to news station KTVN in Reno, the Storey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the encounter.
“The Storey County Sheriff’s Office has received concerning reports and video of an incident that occurred in Virginia City on August 2, 2024. We at the sheriff’s office do not condone or support racism, inequality, or hate speech.”
