McDonald’s Corporation has been put “on notice” after Rev. Al Sharpton sent a letter to the fast food giant, threatening action over allegations of racial discrimination against some of its Black franchisees.
Sharpton sent the letter last week to McDonald’s Corporation CEO Chris Kempczinski, which noted several alleged lawsuits filed by Black franchises in recent years.
Sharpton sent the letter on behalf of the National Action Network, where he is founder and president.
“We find it appalling and inexcusable that McDonald’s Corporation has not satisfied its differences with the Black community,” said Sharpton. “There are lawsuits brought by Black franchises. Another was brought by a Black former executive over racial discrimination from the highest levels. And let’s not forget the $10 billion lawsuit brought by Byron Allen over the fact that Black-owned media did not get its fair share of McDonald’s supersized advertising budgets.”
