Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was reportedly arrested in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning on a concealed weapon felony charge… by the LAPD.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 37-year-old boxer was arrested just after 1 a.m. for a felony concealed weapon charge after his vehicle was stopped in Hollywood for… dark, tinted front windows and an obstructed license plate. (Yes, they are still pulling that.)

Police reportedly said Wilder’s vehicle… smelled like marijuana. (Yes, they are pulling that one too.)

Police found a 9MM gun during a search of the Rolls Royce.

Following the arrest, Wilder seemed to express having no regrets about the ordeal.

He was released on a ridiculous $35,000 bond about five hours after he was jailed.

(We are from Los Angeles, and can attest to the danger that constantly lurks. When you are a Black man with a high profile, being cognoscente of that danger and the warped mindset that some of these street criminals cling to will help keep you alive.)

The arrest sounds like typical LAPD bullshit. They know anybody in a Rolls Royce is somebody. By the way, a YouTuber has been documenting this same police department with officers who drive around with the same violations they arrest innocent people for.

Los Angeles County does allow Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits, and responsible gun ownership is important, but the justification for the traffic stop is suspect to begin with.

Hopefully, if Wilder doesn’t have a CCW, he prioritizes it — and calls out LAPD for their routine profiling. If they spent half as much time fishing as they would chasing real crime, maybe more people would be alive in L.A.
