An investigation is underway after two deputies were caught on video violently arrested a Black security guard.

The incident happened on Sunday outside of a hookah lounge in Inglewood.

In the video, the deputies can be seen trying to restrain the man while he is on the ground. A small crowd beings to surround the deputies, and at least once, one of the deputies can be seen pointing what appears to be a handgun at onlookers.

The deputy who pointed what appeared to be a firearm, can also be seen in the video pushing the man’s head in the pavement and punching him in the head. He also appears to use a taser to subdue him.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the “suspect” was arrested on several charges, including felon in possession of firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of (loaded) concealed firearm, and assault on a peace officer with a firearm.

It wasn’t clear what led up to the physical altercation and arrest, or what made the man a “suspect” to begin with.

Sheriff’s officials said the man suffered minor injuries during the arrest and was taken to a hospital. The man’s family claimed he could lose an eye, reported KTLA.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced on Wednesday that an investigation into the use-of-force incident is underway — which likely means nobody should hold their breath expecting justice from that department.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reportedly said it is aware of the incident but the case has not been presented to prosecutors.
