KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs’ Justyn Ross will not be allowed to play after he was placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list following his arrest earlier this week on charges of domestic battery and criminal damage to property of less than $1,000.

The 23-year-old wide receiver practiced with the Chiefs on Wednesday and Thursday before he was placed on the exempt list.

Ross, appeared in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. He was released on a $2,500 bond.

Ross was initially booked on a felony charge of criminal damage in excess of $25,000, according to Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, NFL.com reported.

Ross, who was an undrafted free agent, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs before the start the 2022 season. He announced in January 2022 he would opt to enter the draft and forgo his senior year at Clemson University. He was sidelined during the 2022 season due to a foot injury, but played every Chiefs’ game this season before his arrest earlier this week.

Ross is due back in court Dec. 4.
