SAN FRANCISCO — Former San Francisco Mayor and Democratic powerhouse Willie Brown refuted a story former President Donald Trump shared at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

The former president made several remarks to the press on Thursday about an alleged helicopter ride Willie Brown once had with Trump that ended with an emergency landing, as well as an alleged conversation about Vice President Kamala Harris.

Brown was interviewed by KPIX in San Francisco on Friday and asked about the remarks, which Brown said was completely made up by Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

“I’m simply laughing about it because anybody that puts any credence into anything he says, especially about other people, can be easily disproven. I don’t know why he would say it,” Brown told KPIX.

On Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom told the New York Times Trump may have been confusing Willie Brown with former California Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. When asked about Newsom’s speculation, Brown responded

“I don’t think I’m confused with Jerry Brown, I think Trump made the whole story up. And if you’re into fictional writing and fictional speaking, you do make stories up.”
