PONCHATOULA, La. — A deputy in Louisiana was terminated following a use-of-force incident that was caught on home surveillance video on Monday.
According to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker, Deputy Randall Kelley was called to help police investigate a threat complaint at a home in Ponchatoula, reported WWL-TV in Louisiana. Ponchatoula is about 50 miles east of Baton Rouge.
When the deputy arrived at the home, he allegedly entered the home and tackled a man at the residence. TPSO said Kelly then placed the man, who is Black, under arrest for four counts of resisting arrest.
According to TPSO, Kelley was removed from the field after the department was made aware of the incident, which was also caught on home surveillance video and shared on social media.
TPSO said an investigation into the incident was completed on Tuesday, and Kelley was terminated. Kelley had been hired with TPSO since February 2024, and was also employed with the agency from March 2020 through May 2022, reported WWL-TV.
The man who was arrested has been released from jail. TPSO said it is trying to drop the charges the man is facing.
