Woman accused of killing Black mother pleads not guilty

The Florida woman who was charged with manslaughter in connection to the fatal shooting her neighbor Ajike “AJ” Owens pleaded not guilty on Monday.

During the court appearance on Monday, Lorincz waived her right to an arraignment, which would have been held on Tuesday.

Lorincz was arrested on June 6 and charged with first-degree manslaughter after a dispute with Owens, a Black mother of four children, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a statement Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Lorincz shot Owens through a door after Owens went to Lorincz home to discuss a dispute about Owens’ children playing near Lorincz’s home.

Lorincz was being held on $150,000 bond. According to court records, Lorcinz’s pretrial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Lorincz could face up to 30 years in prison if she is convicted.
