Huxley, who has been suspended without pay since late 2021, also faced a charge of official misconduct, but that charge was was dismissed.

On Sept. 8, Huxley was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison after entering a plea agreement in connection with the incident on Sept. 24, 2021 caught on camera, which showed Huxley stomp on Jermaine Vaughn’s face while the Black man was handcuffed and on the ground, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office Southern District of Indiana.

Huxley’s 180-day sentence to Marion County Jail will run concurrent with his federal prison sentence.

Court documents showed Huxley pleaded guilty on federal charges in acceptance of a reduced sentence. Huxley still faced state charges after entering into the plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Shortly after the incident, IMPD Police Chief Randal Taylor requested the Civilian Police Merit Board to terminate Huxley’s employment with the IMPD.

During his sentencing on Tuesday, Huxley told the court he plans to resign, reported WTHR.
