WASHINGTON D.C. — Trayon White Sr., a District of Columbia city councilmember who has been accused of spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories, was arrested by federal investigators for allegedly accepting more than $150,000 in bribes.

Court records, which were unsealed on Monday, allege White agreed in June to accept about $156,000 in kickbacks and cash payments in exchange for pressuring city employees to extend contracts worth more than $5 million intended for violence intervention services.

White, who is a Democrat, was arrested on Sunday on a federal bribery charge. He released from custody after appearing in court on Monday.

According to court records, White was secretly recorded talking to an FBI informant who allegedly gave White $35,000 in cash four times between June and August.
