Trump’s DOJ drops cases of alleged discrimination in hiring of police officers and firefighters

WASHINGTON D.C. — The U.S. Department of Justice said it is no longer pursuing several cases that the Biden administration greenlit with the hopes of ending alleged discrimination in the hiring of police and firefighter applicants, including Black people and women.

On Wednesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a statement to the Associated Press saying the decision is for the safety of “American communities” and is intended to allow police and fire agencies to choose people “for their skill and dedication to public safety – not to meet DEI quotas.”

The DOJ’s announcement is the latest action by the Trump Administration aimed at reducing — and eliminating — diversity hiring in federal government.
