A Texas senator shockingly shared two racist tweets on Saturday in response to a statement former President Obama posted on Twitter disapproving of the SCOTUS’ Roe v. Wade reversal.
Obama shared a tweet on Saturday, which said:
“Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.”
In response, the senator suggested the U.S. Supreme Court now direct its attention to Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board … landmark cases that ended Jim Crow laws and desegregated schools.
Criticism of the senator’s comments were swift, but there have yet to be any calls from state officials for him to step down.
Texas, for ya.

Opinion: 10 years ago, a senator wouldn’t dare — even in backwards Texas. No elected official even close to such a rank would. But this is a symptom of the society we are forced to reckon with in the U.S. — racism is good for business if you are in the GOP. The sitting senator has received a flood of criticism online and hasn’t deleted the tweets. Maybe smart Texas voters will delete him by the next election.
