QUEENS, N.Y. — The man who was accused of fatally shooting an up-and-coming rapper named Chinx was sentenced to 23 years in prison on Monday. He pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.
Investigators said the murder of Chinx, whose real name was Lionel Pickens, Jr. stemmed from envy over the rapper’s career. Pickens was killed after the Porsche he was inside of was shot at multiple times in May 2015.
The suspect, Quincy Homere, appeared in a Queens court room along with the victim’s wife who spoke. Homere wore a face mask during his sentencing.
Homere is also serving time in jail for armed robbery.
