AKRON, Ohio — Hundreds gathered in Akron on Wednesday to witness the unveiling of a statue honoring the life and legacy of Sojourner Truth at the exact location where she delivered her 1851 speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”

Truth, an abolitionist who was born into slavery, shared the famous “Ain’t I a Woman” speech to a crowd of women at what was once the Universalist Old Stone Church where the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention took place.
