Selfie campaign honors late civil rights icon John Lewis for 85th birthday

ATLANTA — In honor of civil rights leader John Lewis on what would have been his 85th birthday, the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation is promoting a selfie campaign encouraging people to remember the late congressman.

A spokesperson for the foundation shared details about the campaign with Atlanta News First on Wednesday.

Lewis’ 85th birthday is Feb. 21.

The public can participate in the John Lewis Selfie Campaign by sharing a photo of themselves with an image of Lewis, such as a mural or sculpture, using the hashtag #JohnLewisSelfie.
