WASHINGTON D.C. — The Trump Administration has accepted a second group of white South Africans into the United States under “refugee” status after falsely claiming white South Africans are victims of targeted racial violence.
Per the Associated Press, officials announced on Monday the new group of white South Africans landed in the U.S. last week.
The Trump Administration’s Department of Homeland Security has not disclosed how many South Africans applied to relocate to the United States under President Donald Trump’s refugee program.
Trump has spread false claims that white South African farmers were being targeted, and are the victims of “white genocide” — misinformation he repeated during a controversial meeting with South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, which included Elon Musk and wealthy white South Africans.
Last month, 59 white South Africans arrived in Virginia after the Trump Administration denied refugee status for all other applicants.
According to the U.S. Embassy in South Africa, to be considered for refugee status, applicants must be of “Afrikaner ethnicity” or “a racial minority in South Africa,” and “must be able to articulate a past experience of persecution or fear of future persecution.”
