MIAMI — Singer Sean Kingston and his mother were indicted in Florida on federal charges of wire fraud over $1 million.

Kingston, 34, and his mother, Janice Turner, 61, appeared in federal court on Friday. The pair were indicted by a grand jury earlier this month after they were accused of attempting to defraud victims using fraudulent documents to obtain luxury items and other goods, according to a news release from the DOJ.

Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, and Turner, were arrested on May 23 after a search warrant was  Kingston’s residence in South Florida and took his mother into custody. Kingston was taken into custody while he was in California at Fort Irwin in the Mojave Desert.

The federal indictment alleges Kingston and Turner falsely claimed they executed bank wire or other methods of transferring payments in exchange for high-end items, however they did not initiate any wire or transfer for $1 million worth of high-end items they received and kept.

More on the charges and Kingston, and his mother’s criminal history.
