Report: Two journalists ambushed, killed by rival gangs in Haiti

Two Haitian journalists were shot to death and set on fire while on a reporting assignment in a Port-au-Prince slum overrun by gangs.

Tayson Latigue and Frantzsen Charles were killed by rival gangs after the two, along with group of journalists, among were attacked on Sunday in the Cité Soleil district, reported the Guardian.

Dieudonné St-Cyr, a reporter with the Haiti’s Association of Independent Journalists, reportedly told radio station Métropole Haiti that the journalists were ambushed by two rival gangs, and that the remaining journalists fled unharmed. He said the victim’s bodies have not been recovered, reported the Guardian.

They group of journalists were reportedly investigating escalating violence in the area.

Sunday’s killings are the second time this year journalists died after two were shot by gang members in Laboule in January.
