LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday for charges related to a shooting that wounded rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford read the sentence in court, bringing the two-year trial to an end.
Lanez, 31, was convicted in December of three felonies, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
The charges carried a sentence of up to 22 years in prison. Prosecutors were seeking 13 years in prison for Lanez’ shooting at Megan Thee Stallion’s feet in 2020 after a party in the Hollywood Hills.
Lanez’ attorney said the rapper will appeal his conviction, reported The Associated Press.
