This week marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop music, a genre that has captivated the world and catapulted Black musicians to the highest levels of stardom, and forever changed pop culture.

In recognition of the official anniversary on Friday, BLK News Now! spoke with underground rapper Chef Sean to get his thoughts on the rap industry, and details about his upcoming projects.

In the eye-opening interview, Chef Sean discusses his transition from acting at a young age to rapping, and breaks down some of the common misconceptions about rappers and the music industry.

The Chicago native also dishes on his early history with Kanye West, ambitions to clinch a GRAMMY Award after contending for a nomination last year, his upcoming record label “Good Dope Music,” and more.
