KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ralph Yarl, the Black teen who shot in the head by a white man after he rang the doorbell of the wrong house, completed the first day of his senior year on Tuesday.
Ralph returned to school four months after Andrew Lester, 84, shot Yarl who mistakenly went to the house because he was supposed to pick up his brothers.
“Ralph was ready to just go back to just being a teenager,” Faith Spoonmore, Yarl’s aunt, told the Kansas City Star.
Lester pleaded not guilty to first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
On Aug. 31, Lester will face a judge for a preliminary hearing. Yarl’s family will reportedly be in court as well.
