Apparently, Juneteenth has stirred up a lot of racist haters. An insurance agency in Maine is in hot water after posting a racist sign on Juneteenth informing would-be patrons that the business was closed on Monday in observance of the federal holiday.
This year marked the first state-level observance of Juneteenth in Maine.
The business reportedly posted a sign that read “Juneteenth … it’s whatever … we’re closed … enjoy your fried chicken and collard greens” for the public to see.
Residents in the local community were appalled by the sign. It is unclear how the insurance agency, which is affiliated with national insurance agencies, could be punished.
The business has drawn ire from people online who have posted negative comments about the business on popular review sites like Yelp and Google. The business’ Yelp page has been disabled.

Opinion: If the business hated Juneteenth so much, they could have stayed at work. They clearly wanted the smoke, and they are getting it. If it shuts down, it’s because they expressed their racism, and the community expressed repudiation. Good riddance.
