President Joe Biden announced on Sunday he was officially dropping out of the 2024 election less than one month after a terrible debate performance that escalated previous concerns about his fitness to be sitting president.
During an address to the nation, the 81-year-old president also threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been the presumed successor to Biden’s presidency.
Following the announcement, Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, took to social media to skewer President Biden’s withdrawal from the race, and painted Harris as an accessory to the president’s so-called “disastrous policy failure.”
