The results of a new poll indicates many Black Americans have less-than-optimistic views about race relations in the United States.

According to the poll conducted by Washington Post and Ipsos, 51 percent of Black respondents said they expect racism in the U.S. to get worse. Another 37 percent of Black respondents said they expect racism to remain the same, while only 11 percent said they expect it to improve in their lifetimes.

The poll, which was released July 16, was conducted between April 28 to May 12 and included responses from 1,225 non-Hispanic Black adults.

The poll also indicated nearly 60 percent of Black adults believed they are very worried or somewhat worried they or someone close to them will be attacked because they are Black.
