Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2024 Academy Awards, the only Black actor to receive an Oscar at Sunday night’s ceremony.
Randolph’s victory on Sunday follows a string of awards season honors for the actress, previously winning at other shows including the Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Golden Globes.
In 2012, Randolph earned a Tony Award for her role in “Ghost The Musical.” Some of her television and film credits include “Empire,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “ Dolemite Is My Name,” and “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.”
In the category of Actress in a Supporting Role, Randolph beat several fierce contenders, including Emily Blunt for “Oppenheimer,” Danielle Brooks in “The Color Purple,” America Ferrera in “Barbie” and Jodie Foster in “Nyad.”
