An off-duty correction officer has been arrested and charged with killing an 18-year-old man who had a water gun in New York.

Police said officers responded to a call about a man who was shot in Morris Heights just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Raymond Chaluisant was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to his face, according to NBC4 New York.

Officers found Chaluisant about a half mile away from where authorities believe he was shot. Chaluisant was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, Dion Middleton, an off-duty correction officer, allegedly shot Chaluisant.

Authorities said Chaluisant had an amped-up water gun in his car that can shoot beads filled with water. Police said currently there was no evidence Chaluisant fired the gun at the off-duty officer.

Police said Middleton was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
