Another broadcaster has done it again, and the timing couldn’t have been more disturbing.
During a televised Oakland A’s game on Friday, team announcer Glen Kuiper said a racial slur during the team’s Friday evening broadcast when discussing his visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
Kuiper made the apparent slip during the pregame broadcast of the Oakland A’s game vs. Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. At one point during the broadcast, Kuiper said “We had a phenomenal day today. (N-word) league museum. And Arthur Bryant’s Barbecue.”

The Oakland A’s communications team issued a statement on Twitter after the incident on Friday, which said:
“The language used by Glen Kuiper during today’s pregame broadcast is unacceptable. The Oakland Athletics do not condone such language. We are working to address the situation.”

According to The Athletic, Kuiper issued an on-air apology during the 6th inning, which said:
“A little bit earlier in the show, I said something, didn’t come out quite the way I wanted it to,” Kuiper said. “I just wanted to apologize if it sounded different than I meant it to be said. I just wanted to apologize for that.”
A spokesperson for NBC Sports California reportedly said the 59-year-old announcer will be removed from broadcasting on air as they look into the matter.
In response to the controversy, on Saturday, Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Museum, released a statement on Twitter:

Well said, Bob.
Kuiper is not the first person to make this mistake on air, and likely won’t be the last.
