NEW YORK CITY — The NYPD issued an apology on Monday, five months after police accused a Black teen of shooting at a crowd during a parade, and not retracting the false allegation.

NYPD reportedly sent a statement to various media outlets apologizing with the correction including the image circulated on social media of the teen when authorities were searching for the suspect.

The shooting happened during the West Indian Day Parade on Sept. 2. Five people were injured, including one man who died later that night.
