
A man in Oklahoma was reportedly arrested after he allegedly shot a Black woman during what police said was a road rage incident.
According to police documents, 25-year-old Shantel Jones was allegedly shot on Aug. 19 by 22-year-old Julian Zavaleta who fled the scene where the shooting occurred in Tulsa but called police about 35 minutes later to turn himself in, reported Tulsa World.
Witnesses reportedly told police the woman parked at an Auto Zone and was shot after she got out of her vehicle aby a man who drove up in a grey vehicle around 2:20 p.m.
Jones was transported to a hospital were she died.
Officers went to a local business where they met with Zavaleta and his family members. Zavaleta was arrested, his car was towed and the gun allegedly used in the shooting was recovered, reported Tulsa World.
Prosecutors filed first-degree murder charges and use of a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon against Zavaleta on Aug. 24, the suspect’s birthday, reported Tulsa World.
Zavaleta was booked into Tulsa County jail in lieu of $1.5 million bond.
