HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Los Angeles Clippers’ reserve wing Amir Coffey was reportedly arrested for misdemeanor possession of a firearm after a car he was a passenger in was pulled over early Sunday morning in Hollywood.
TMZ Sports reported the vehicle Coffey was traveling in was pulled over in Hollywood around 2:30 a.m. for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers smelled marijuana and conducted a search of the vehicle, and found a loaded firearm, according to the report.
Coffey admitted the loaded firearm belonged to him, according to the report.
Coffey was booked into jail on the misdemeanor charge and released four hours later on his on recognizance. He is expected to have a court date related to the misdemeanor in August.
Coffey originally signed with the Clippers in 2019. In 2022, he reportedly signed a three-year, $11 million contract with the team.
