WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — During a press conference on Monday, the Houston County NAACP said it is calling for accountability after dashcam video of a disagreement over the ticket between a state trooper and a Uber driver went viral.

In the video, which was released last week, the trooper can be heard telling the driver, who is Black, that he was pulled over for having a phone in his hand — which the video clearly shows the driver didn’t have while he was driving.

The incident happened on Jan. 30 in Warner Robins, a city in central Georgia. On Jan. 31, the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said it will dismiss the citation.

The trooper who pulled the Uber driver over was flagged by a GSP “spotter” who reported seeing the driver with a phone in his hand.

The Houston County NAACP said it is calling for accountability so that the incident is on the trooper’s record, but didn’t say it was calling for any terminations, reported WMAZ 13.
