ORLANDO, Fla. — Walt Disney World’s governing district will eliminate its diversity, equity and inclusion programs now under the control appointees selected by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District said its diversity, equity and inclusion committee was being removed, as well as any related job duties, reported The Associated Press.
The decision to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs from the district follow Gov. DeSantis’ policies and agendas over the past year, removing Black history and revising curriculum on slavery. Critics, including Vice President Kamala Harris, have called DeSantis’ legislation “propaganda.”
