Derek Chauvin transferred to federal prison in Arizona

Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of killing George Floyd, has been transferred to a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona where he will serve the rest of his sentence .

Chauvin was moved from a state prison where he was reportedly in solitary confinement to a medium-security prison.

Chauvin was sentenced to 22 1/2 years in state prison for the death of Floyd.

As part of a plea deal, in which Chauvin was sentenced to 21 years for civil rights violations against Floyd, he will serve the remainder of his sentence in federal prison concurrently with his state sentence.
