Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday was honored with the NBA’s Social Justice Champion award for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday.

The NBA’s Social Justice Champion award, which is named after legendary former Lakers star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, recognizes players who have made significant contributions to social justice initiatives.

Last week, Holiday also received the league’s Sportsmanship Award for the second time in his career. Last year, he also received the “Tenacious D MVP 2024 Award” presented by actor Jack Black.

The NBA has pledged to donate $100,000 to the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund, which aims to support various social justice initiatives.

Holiday’s work off the court includes various initiatives aimed at addressing systemic inequalities and promoting education and health in underserved communities.

Holiday’s accolades include two-time NBA champion, a two-time All-Star, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. He also has been recognized as a three-time winner of the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award, which celebrates players who demonstrate selflessness and teamwork.
