BESSEMER, Ala. — Carlee Russell, the woman behind the fabricated kidnapping story that made headlines last year, plead guilty on Thursday to filing a false police report and falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement.
In October, a judge found the 26-year-old guilty of two misdemeanor charges. A trial was scheduled for March 18, but a plea hearing was arranged last week.
After pleading guilty in court, Russell avoided any jail time.
