Bob Marley biopic ‘One Love’ defies box office expectations, reels in $27.7M opening weekend

The Bob Marley biopic “Bob Marley: One Love” overcame poor critics reviews, conquering the box office after pulling in $27.7 million opening weekend.

The Paramount Pictures film starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, beat out Marvel film “Madam Web,” defying expectations.

“One Love,” which was reportedly produced for about $70 million, was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. Bob Marley’s children, Cedella and Ziggy Marley, and his wife Rita, also produced the film.

As of Feb. 19, the film holds a 41% “fresh” score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a much higher 93% audience score.
