PHILADELPHIA — The host of a Black-owned radio station in Philadelphia has resigned from her job amid controversy her post-debate interview last week with President Joe Biden included questions that were pre-selected by his campaign team.
Andrea Lawful-Sanders resigned from WURD Radio after she admitted her post-debate interview with the president included questions pre-selected by Biden’s team.
“The interview featured pre-determined questions provided by the White House, which violates our practice of remaining an independent media outlet accountable to our listeners,” Sara Lomax, president and CEO of WURD announced in a statement posted Sunday on the station’s website website. “As a result, Ms. Lawful-Sanders and WURD Radio have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.”
“WURD Radio is not a mouthpiece for the Biden or any other Administration,” she added.
The interview initially drew national attention after President Biden seemingly suffered another verbal slipup.
The latest gaffe happened as the 81-year-old president was referring to Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Barack Obama.
“By the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first Black woman, to serve with a Black president,” he told WURD.
