Perhaps it’s no surprise but the highly-anticipated teaser trailer for the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster film “Black Panther” quickly rose to the number 1 trending spot on YouTube within a day of its release.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has been noted as a tribute to late actor Chadwick Boseman who played the lead character T’Challa, king of Wakanda, and the Black Panther.

Much is unclear about the upcoming film’s storyline, scheduled for release in November, but it’s undeniable T’Challa will not be recast in Wakanda Forever. Shuri, T’Challa’s genius sister played by Leticia Wright, is expected to play a significant role in saving Wakanda which is under siege by Namor (AKA Sub-Mariner) and unknown military forces.

Wakanda Forever is a major test for the successful Disney/Marvel Studios film, not only because of the record-breaking profits the original Black Panther raked in, but the loss of its lead actor. Boseman’s death required many changes to the follow-up film and the subsequent storyline of Black Panther’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Black Panther film has been praised for its portrayal and celebration of African cultures. The sequel was directed by Ryan Coogler, who directed the first film.
