A Black man accused of attacking three men in New York City who are Sikh has been killed.
Authorities said on Thursday the 19-year-old suspect was stabbed to death in Brooklyn after a dispute with another person.
In the first attack in April, the suspect was accused of punching the first victim, a 70-year-old man, in the nose without saying anything. Authorities arrested the suspect a couple of weeks later. He was also arrested that same day for an attack he was accused of carrying out the with the help of another person, beating two Sikh men with sticks, stealing cash and removing their turbans.
The first victim was reportedly visiting America on a visa. He has since returned to India.
It’s unclear why the suspect was released from custody.

Opinion: These incidents were tragic. Hate crimes are a growing problem in America. Police are usually slow to call hate crimes against Black victims exactly what they are, yet they labeled this suspect’s actions hate crimes and charged him. The suspect shouldn’t have been released from jail so quickly. There should be no-bond holds for suspects of violent hate crimes. The photo of the victim of the first attack is heartbreaking. This is it not what America should look like.
