Black community calls for boycotts after Target cuts DEI programs

Target’s announcement that it will roll back it DEI efforts has led to rousing calls from Black community leaders to boycott one of the nation’s largest retailers.


Many Black consumers and community leaders have taken their frustrations online, sharing plans to boycott Target and alternative retailers.

DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs attracted more support in corporate board rooms following the George Floyd protests in 2020.

Target is the latest company to announce its plans to cut back or completely end its diversity initiatives, including more recently Walmart, Home Depot, Meta, and McDonald’s.
