Benedict College unveils new gaming room, becomes first HBCU to offer Esports degree

Benedict College, an HBCU in Columbia, South Carolina, has made history by becoming the first HBCU to launch an Esports gaming room and a degree program for students.

Benedict College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 29 for the gaming room.

Benedict College’s Esports bachelor’s degree program supports students learning skills related to planning, organizing, and marketing events, reported local station WISTV.

Benedict College, in partnership with Blaze Gaming, is also helping students earn gaming certifications.
